Immerse yourself in the world of Ayurveda!

During a 10-day Ayurveda training for beginners, you will receive a comprehensive introduction to Ayurvedic nutrition, medicine, and treatments such as Shirodhara, partial and full-body massages. The training takes place at Villa Velmarie and at the Ayurveda clinic of an experienced Ayurvedic doctor. Morning sessions provide you with fundamental Ayurvedic knowledge, the doshas, Ayurvedic remedies, and nutrition. In the evenings, you will apply this knowledge in practical workshops, including Ayurvedic cooking classes, relaxation techniques, and insights into an Ayurvedic medical practice. After 10 intensive days of theory and practice, you will conclude the training with a practical exam and take away valuable knowledge for your body, mind, and daily life.

Your Ayurveda & Yoga Resort

At Villa Velmarie Yoga & Ayurveda House, a villa from the Dutch colonial era, a sanctuary of peace and rejuvenation awaits you. The six uniquely designed non-smoking rooms create an almost private setting. The highlight is the 4,000 sqm tropical garden. A well-maintained pool, cosy communal areas, and warm, personal service make Villa Velmarie an oasis for relaxation and holistic health.

Location & Surroundings

The villa is peacefully located in Maggona on the west coast of Sri Lanka, approximately 60 km south of Colombo. The sea and the nearby fishing beach (not suitable for swimming) are just a few minutes' walk away, with the next beach section about a 10-15 minute walk. The vibrant coastal town of Kalutara, with shopping facilities, temples, and colonial attractions, is easily accessible. The centre of Beruwela is about 2 km away. The location combines rural tranquility with excellent connections for excursions, e.g., to Bentota, Galle, or the inland.

Dining & Leisure

The Ayurvedic full board is freshly prepared daily using regional ingredients. Tridosha menus are served, balancing all three doshas and suitable for all guests. Enjoy authentic Sri Lankan recipes with aromatic herbs and spices - soothing, easily digestible, and in harmony with Ayurvedic principles. Meals can be enjoyed communally or, upon request, in a tranquil setting in the garden or by the pool. Drinking water and herbal tea are available throughout the day.

Ayurveda Center

Under the guidance of an experienced Ayurveda doctor with his own Ayurveda clinic, who comes from a family with a long tradition of healers, classic treatments such as Panchakarma, detox and rejuvenation programs are offered. Each treatment is individually tailored following a detailed medical history. In 3 treatment rooms, the treatments range from synchronous oil massages and herbal baths to Shirodhara forehead oil pours. The Ayurveda doctor is always on call. The program is complemented by daily yoga and meditation to harmonize body, mind, and soul. Ayurveda beginners are welcome - no prior experience is necessary.

Free Time

The garden, complete with a pool, sun loungers, and shaded areas, is perfect for relaxation. The villa features a small library, yoga area, and Wi-Fi. Walks to the nearby beach or excursions to markets, temples, and tea plantations are easily arranged. Various attractions are available, including the nearby swimming beach, Richmond Castle in Kalutara, the fort in Beruwela, Galle, the Kande Viharaya Temple in Aluthgama, and a turtle hatchery in Kosgoda. Water sports such as surfing are also available nearby, sometimes for a fee. 2-3 times a week, additional activities such as meditation, Ayurvedic cooking, or cultural evenings are offered - all in a small, intimate setting, reflecting the relaxed nature of the hotel.
