Nestled on the shores of Yoda Lake, not far from Yala National Park, Thaulle Pure Ayurveda Resort awaits you. "Thaulle" means "shore" in Sinhalese. This eco-friendly Bio-Design hotel, managed under German-speaking leadership, offers its guests authentic Ayurveda in a tranquil, secluded setting. The hotel is committed to sustainable resource and food management, honored with the TourCert certificate. The Thaulle Eco Farm, spanning 25 hectares, is just an 8-minute drive away. Here, you can plant your own tree, assist with the harvest, or simply marvel at what the hotelier has achieved. The focus on ecological aspects is palpable throughout and makes the hotel truly unique. The private beach area with a pool at Kirinda Beach, offering picturesque views, walks, or water sports, is approximately 15 minutes away.

Sustainability

Thaulle is dedicated to these standards for the benefit of the environment and the well-being of its guests. Energy is mostly sourced from renewable means through its own production of biogas and solar power. Vegetables, fruits, herbs, and spices, as well as all flowers used for decoration, are grown on-site. To support the local community, the resort primarily employs local staff and craftsmen and uses local materials and products, which also means avoiding single-use items such as plastic bottles or imported products.

Kirinda Beach

About 15 minutes away, the bright sands of Kirinda Beach feature a private section of the Thaulle Pure Ayurveda Resort. With scenic views of the horizon and the vast beach, you can relax in the majestic Thaulle Infinity Pool or participate in yoga classes offered there. Those seeking activity will also enjoy swimming, surfing, or diving in the sea (seasonal).

Location & Surroundings

The small town of Tissamaharama, the former capital of the Sinhalese Kingdom of Ruhuna, is located just about 3 miles away. The pilgrimage town of Kataragama, home to significant Buddhist sanctuaries and temples, is approximately 15.5 miles away and, along with Yala National Park (about 8.7 miles), known for its large population of leopards, makes for an intriguing excursion destination.

Dining & Leisure

Enjoy Ayurvedic meals tailored to your dosha from the buffet while overlooking the lake. The restaurant spans two floors; breakfast and lunch are served upstairs, while dinner is enjoyed downstairs or in the garden by candlelight. Fruits, vegetables, and herbs are sourced from our own garden or locally, in line with our Green Philosophy, and fish and seafood come from Yoda Lake or the local fish market. Vegetarian, lactose-free, or gluten-free dishes are available upon request. The resort also offers weekly Ayurvedic cooking demonstrations using produce from our own Organic Farm, allowing you to bring a touch of Ayurveda into your own culinary skills.

Ayurveda Center

"The best feeling one can experience [after a Panchakarma therapy] is: oneself," says Dr. Upul, head of the clinic at Thaulle Pure Ayurveda Resort, boasting over 20 years of experience and ranking among the top Ayurvedic doctors in Sri Lanka. Dr. Upul hails from an Ayurvedic family and merges traditional Ayurvedic medicine with his own innovative treatment methods, even for deep-seated ailments and chronic diseases.

The personalized Ayurveda (Panchakarma) therapies are conducted under the supervision of the esteemed chief physician with a professional team of therapists. The 6 therapy rooms are uniformly equipped with shower/WC/herbal bath, inhalation facilities, and massage tables, only leaving for treatments in the Ayurvedic steam baths. Thaulle boasts an Ayurveda pharmacy with certified Ayurvedic medicines and a separate garden area for relaxation by the lake, where most of the healing herbs and plants used are grown. Acupuncture is available upon request (at a charge). Support is available in both German and English, with a Western doctor on call. Yoga

Daily yoga sessions (primarily Hatha, as well as Karma, Bhakti, and Raja) are held in the yoga hall on the top floor with a panoramic view.

Thaulle Indications

In addition to detoxification, cleansing, and stress reduction, the resort also addresses deeper complaints and chronic diseases, including allergies of all kinds, bronchitis, arthritis, digestive system diseases, high blood pressure, and joint pain.

Free Time

Relax by the spacious lakeside outdoor pool or in one of the many secluded spots in the garden. Fitness enthusiasts can use the gym equipped with bikes, treadmills, and rowing machines, or enjoy a guided tour through the fruit, vegetable, and herb garden.

Complimentary bike rental is available, for instance, for trips to the private section at Kirinda Beach with a new pool right by the sea (shuttle available on request, approximately €4, payable locally). The beach is also ideal for diving. Traditional markets about 6 km away are highly recommended, such as the bustling market in Tissa. The hotel also offers excursions, for example, to Tissamaharama with the Tissa Wewa Lake, safaris in Yala National Park (about 14 km), to the Sithulpawwa Rock Temple, Kataragama, and much more (charges apply).

The resort offers 28 luxurious rooms, spread across two buildings with impressive glass fronts and balconies that provide a breathtaking lake view. Each stay is unique, as no two rooms are alike. Whether it's a Superior, Classic Deluxe, Standard room, or a Suite, each room is individually decorated. Therefore, room sizes may vary within the booked category. The 12 Standard rooms offer a comfortable basic setup, some with connecting doors, ideal for families. The 9 Superior rooms are more spacious and offer enhanced comfort. The 5 Classic Deluxe rooms boast additional space, a bathtub, and a more generous balcony. For guests seeking exceptional luxury, two suites are available, one of which features a separate living area.

The hotel is distinguished by traditional Sinhalese craftsmanship and references to the works of the famous Sri Lankan architect Geoffrey Bawa. All rooms were designed by local artisans and adhere to the principles of Vastu, the ancient Indian doctrine of architectural harmony. Top-notch amenities include individually adjustable air conditioning, a 32-inch LCD TV, high-quality cotton linens, Siddhalepa Ayurvedic toiletries, and complimentary drinking water. Surroundings and country fantastic. Nature very close, lots of animals, so relaxing. The resort clean, very stylishly furnished, beautiful and with enough space. The rooms are large and spacious. The staff so incredibly attentive, friendly, we were spoiled. The chef was friendly and always available. We felt very comfortable. The treatment daily hello and very good doing . Clear recommendation. We will be back!
