Located by the lake, nestled within a mangrove forest, the privately managed Roman Lake Ayurveda Resort is a boutique Ayurveda hideaway. This is the perfect place to find your inner balance amidst stunning nature, using Ayurveda and Yoga to restore harmony to your body, mind, and soul. Location & Surroundings

Balapitiya is a quaint coastal town in the southwest of Sri Lanka, renowned for its stunning beaches and tranquil ambiance. The town is situated near the Madu Ganga Lagoon, a famous wetland with numerous islands and diverse wildlife. Balapitiya is a favoured destination for boat tours, nature explorations, and seaside relaxation, away from the larger tourist crowds.

Dining & Leisure

Ayurveda guests receive dosha-appropriate, Ayurvedic menus recommended by the Ayurveda doctor. The fresh vegetables are mostly sourced from local farmers, and white fish and chicken are also recommended foods. On request, dining by the lake with a dream view can be arranged (weather-dependent). Travel companions can enjoy international cuisine à la carte.

Your Ayurveda Center

A team of 2 Ayurveda doctors and experienced therapists take care of the Ayurveda guests at the Ayurveda Center - the heart of the hotel. Daily treatments are conducted in the 4 semi-open treatment rooms. The individually tailored Ayurveda treatments include, for example, Abhyanga full-body massage and Shirodhara forehead oil flow. An Ayurvedic sauna and steam bath complement the facilities. The herb garden provides ingredients for the production of our own Ayurvedic herbal medicine. Yoga hall for your therapy-accompanying yoga and meditation, weekly lectures on Ayurveda and Ayurvedic cooking demonstrations. Acupuncture is available on-site (approx. €9 (approx. UK £8 / USD $10) per treatment).

Free Time

The outdoor pool with sun loungers invites you to relax, while the pristine natural landscape is perfect for leisurely walks or adventurous bike rides. The coastal town of Balapitiya is just a 10-minute walk or a 2-minute Tuk Tuk ride away. A shuttle to the beach, about 5 minutes away, is included once daily. Transfers to the sister hotel, Roman Life Ayurveda Resort, can be arranged for a fee. The resort team is also happy to organize more extensive excursions, such as to Kandy, Galle, or Colombo (charges apply).

Unfortunately we were served frozen vegetables in the evening and after many complaints this was not changed. This is not acceptable and has nothing to do with Ayurveda. The soups should also be more varied, we only ate pumpkin soup for a whole week. The resort is beautifully situated and offers the peace and quiet you need. I can highly recommend it.
