Nestled in the stunning nature of India's southwest coast, Poovar Island Resort is a place where the Arabian Sea meets the tranquil backwaters of Kerala. The paradisiacal sandy beach ahead is accessible via a 5-minute boat ride. Although swimming is not recommended due to undercurrents and surf, the setting invites you to enjoy relaxing walks and moments of tranquility. Amidst a tropical garden, the resort is designed like a charming little village: with a central main building including the reception, several lovingly designed outbuildings, and the exclusive Ayurveda Village. This separate area offers a holistic wellness concept specifically for Ayurveda guests, featuring its own pool, an authentic Ayurveda restaurant, and a professionally managed Ayurveda Center - certified by the prestigious NABH (National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers).

The region is characterised by a unique landscape where the Arabian Sea meets tranquil lagoons and palm-fringed river branches of the Backwaters. Away from urban hustle, the surroundings offer golden beaches, lush vegetation, and traditional villages. Here, tropical authenticity blends with the cultural diversity of South India.

In the Ayurveda restaurant, guests can savour purely vegetarian dishes prepared according to Ayurvedic principles. The restaurant is situated in a tranquil location with views of the garden and pool. For those not participating in the Ayurveda programme, the separate main restaurant "Tiffins" is available, offering a delightful variety of continental and Asian specialties - a pleasurable selection for every palate.

The Ayurveda Center spans an area of approximately 6,000 m² and has been awarded the Green Leaf Award. It boasts a qualified team comprising 2 Ayurvedic doctors and about 20 therapists. The facility is surrounded by picturesque waterways and gardens, creating a tranquil atmosphere. In 10 bright treatment rooms, guests can enjoy authentic Ayurvedic treatments tailored to the needs of predominantly Western guests. The intensity of the Ayurveda therapies is adjusted according to the length of stay. Additionally, the center offers dental consultations and treatments such as bleaching, which can be paid for on-site (approx. INR 1500/€20 (approx. UK £17 / USD $21)). An open yoga hall is available for guests, where daily yoga or meditation classes are offered. Private sessions are available for a fee.

At Ayurveda Village and Island Resort, each features an outdoor pool. Internet access is also available, along with a shop, a gym, a library, and a butterfly garden. For active guests, a variety of activities are offered, including fishing, kayaking, and excursions to typical fishing villages or to Neyyar Dam and Sivananda Ashram. Depending on the season, evening entertainment is available, and there are opportunities to attend lectures on Ayurveda, cooking classes, and workshops such as palm reading or pottery. Workshops can be booked and paid for on-site with a minimum of 2 participants.
