The neoclassical hotel palace, built in 1912, is situated on a slope right at the entrance of the town and offers a magnificent view of the valley (renovated in 2017).

Location & Surroundings

St. Joachimsthal is located on the southern slopes of the Ore Mountains, close to the German border. The healing successes of the spa are based on the noble gas radon. In the 16th century, Joachimsthal was one of the most important cities in Europe due to its minting rights. The city's history is closely linked to the mining of silver, tin, and uranium. The last active mine in Joachimsthal, called Svornost, supplies the treatment areas with radon water.

The historic city centre of Joachimsthal is a protected zone with houses in the Renaissance-Gothic style.

In the tranquil spa district in the lower part of the city, you will find not only spa hotels, restaurants, and the Aquazentrum Agricola with a mine sauna but also a picturesque spa park with a music pavilion, a children's playground, and a small lake. The spa district is surrounded by a forest park with numerous hiking trails.

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner served buffet style. Diabetic, slimming, gentle, and vegetarian diets, lactose- and gluten-free options available on request. Dance bar with live music, lobby, bar, summer terrace.

"Small Water World" (daily 90') with a motion pool (13 x 6 m approx. 30°C), whirlpool, Kneipp barefoot path, steam bath. Dry and infrared light sauna (each approx. €5 (£4 / USD $6) per 90'). Beauty: hairdresser, cosmetics, Vacuwell (fat burning, anti-cellulite).

Health & Treatments

Doctor, laboratory, 24-hour nursing service. Pearl, carbon dioxide, radon baths, lymphatic drainage, electrotherapy, laser therapy, and magnetotherapy, inhalations, occupational therapy, massages, therapeutic exercise. Indications: musculoskeletal system e.g., ankylosing spondylitis, rheumatism, diseases of the peripheral nervous system, metabolic diseases, burn-out, activation of self-healing powers in early-stage Parkinson's and Multiple Sclerosis. Please bring any existing medical reports.

Free Time

Aqua & Wellness Centre Agricola (open daily 7 a.m. - 9 p.m.): indoor pool, children's pool, whirlpools, Kneipp path, salt grotto, solarium, and fitness. New sauna world - Agricola Mine Sauna: Finnish and bio sauna, infrared sauna, steam bath, ice pool, relaxation room with water and tea, herb garden, rooftop terrace with barefoot path. Pool entry + sauna use approx. €8 (60'), approx. €9 (90') approx. €11 (120'). Discounts available for spa guests and seniors. Café.

The Ore Mountains are a paradise for hiking, cycling, and skiing. Thematic trails such as the Radon Theme Trail, the Hell of Joachimsthal, Gottesgaber Peat Moor Theme Trail, and more. Excursions: Loket Castle, Porcelain and Glass Museum in Karlovy Vary. Oberwiesenthal in the Ore Mountains just 12 km away. 18-hole golf club Karlovy Vary and Golf Club Cihelny (about 6 km), Golf Club Marianske Lazne (about 40 km).

A visit to the "underground treasures" of the region is worthwhile and can be perfectly combined with sporting activities and wellness.

Ore Mountains on the UNESCO list: The Ore Mountain Mining Region (Krušnohoří) is the first Czech cross-border collection of monuments, included in the UNESCO World Heritage List on 6 July 2019.
