The Falkensteiner Spa Resort Marienbad combines a history-rich past with modern elegance. It consists of four interconnected buildings. The main building, Pelnar, built in Art Nouveau style in 1875, features a foyer, lobby bar, library, large sun terrace.

Location & Surroundings

Marienbad - world-famous like many of its guests - from Franz Kafka to Johann Wolfgang von Goethe to Emperor Franz Joseph. This traditional spa town in a mild, south-facing valley was founded in 1818 by Karl Kaspar Reitenberger, the abbot of the Tepla Abbey, and is rich in mineral springs, natural gases, and peat. The clean air, abundant forests, and pleasant altitude create optimal conditions for a therapy and relaxation stay.

Health & Treatments

(daily 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.) with medical supervision. Classic therapy services include: dry CO2 bath, oxygen therapy, whirlpool bath, Lymfoven, mud pack, massages, electrotherapy and physiotherapy, peat and mineral bath, lymphatic drainage, connective tissue massage, magnetic field therapy, gas injection, inhalation, ultrasound, shortwave diathermy, Lavatherm, aqua, spinal and stability ball gymnastics. Drinking therapy with the hotel's own medicinal spring Alexandra. Additional charges apply for: Aslan therapy, body wraps on a floating bed. Guests are warmly invited to participate in yoga and relaxation programs.

Natural Marienbad Remedies:

Mineral Water - In the town of Marienbad, 40 different mineral springs emerge, with 100 more in the immediate vicinity. These are cold acidulous waters with temperatures between 45 to 50 degrees Fahrenheit. The occurrence of such a high number of springs with different compositions and various therapeutic effects is a balneological rarity. As natural remedies, these springs are state-protected and monitored. Applications: mineral baths, inhalation, drinking therapy.

Peat - The natural peat from the region is rich in minerals and is used in the form of packs or peat baths - often as an ideal preparation for massages. Thanks to its long-lasting warmth, the peat has a soothing and healing effect on tension, inflammation, and strain. Applications: natural peat pack for partial or full body, optional with colloidal silver, , Lavatherm, peat bath- optional with colloidal silver.

Carbon Dioxide Healing Gas - In addition to the variety of water sources, Marienbad also has a dry source. It is a strong gas effusion that dissolves secondarily in surface water and is named Maria Spring. The CO2 gas from Maria Spring is of volcanic origin and 99.47% pure. It is used for special dry baths and injections. These applications cause vasodilation, stimulating circulation, lowering blood pressure, and activating metabolism. Applications: dry CO2 bath, subcutaneous CO2 injections, Pneumopuncture - a combination of CO2 injection and therapeutic massage.

Nice large room, very friendly hotel staff, very good food, large spa area. Unfortunately, hordes of East Germans descended on the hotel on the penultimate day, which significantly lowered the standard (battle at the buffet, the spa area became a fun pool etc). When booking, please take into account school vacations in Saxony and Thuringia and avoid long weekends!
