The state of Kerala in South India is renowned for its numerous Ayurveda schools. Here, Ayurveda is not just a healthcare system, but a way of life. The monsoon season (June to October) provides optimal conditions for rejuvenating Ayurveda treatments due to the high humidity.
In the Ayurveda Restaurant, vegetarian dishes are served according to your individually prescribed dietary plan. Various diets, such as for diabetics or gluten-free, are available on request.
The Ayurveda Center is led by the highly experienced and modern Ayurvedic scientist Dr. Sreejith, supported by a qualified team of Ayurvedic doctors and therapists. Specialising in the treatment of lifestyle diseases such as metabolic syndrome (diabetes, obesity), migraines, insomnia, stress and its effects on the immune system, as well as cancer treatments. Traditional Ayurvedic remedies are successfully combined with Western medicine here. The necessary oils and herbal medicines are produced on-site at the family-owned pharmacy. A unique treatment by Dr. Sreejit is bloodletting, known for its immune-boosting and regenerative effects. To realistically assess the prospects of success of an Ayurveda therapy, the team offers personal consultations before and after the therapy via Skype or phone (in English). Additionally, a questionnaire to gather medical history is sent before the trip to best prepare for the patients' needs. On-site, guests receive a laptop daily to further optimise their stay based on constant feedback. Yoga and meditation enhance the therapy success. A modern and fully equipped dental clinic is available for dental treatments (payable on-site).
Boat tours to the nearby Backwaters, temple visits, or a tour to Periyar National Park can be organised through the reception.
The Athreya Medical Resort welcomes you with 19 cosy cottages nestled amidst manicured gardens and expansive rice fields. The rooms are simple and functional, equipped with modern bathrooms and air conditioning. A mosquito net is available upon request for added comfort. Relax on your private terrace after treatments and enjoy the idyllic surroundings. On a small private island, just 150 meters from the main building, are eight more spacious rooms. I chose this place because of the high medical standards and the desire for an authentic Ayurveda retreat. My expectations were not disappointed, but exceeded. I was impressed by Dr. Sreejit's personal commitment and extensive and differentiated knowledge. Here, even without many words, it is quickly understood where the guest's individual issues lie and which solutions are effective. In addition to the treatments, many helpful tips are given on lifestyle, nutrition and other targeted measures. The aftercare of the healing therapies through continued contact is also highly commendable. I always felt that I was in good hands at this special place with very dedicated staff. When the time comes, I will gladly return here to recharge my batteries.

After 23 days of Athreya PanchaKarma healing therapies I feel physically and mentally very strong and rejuvenated again. Professional medical care, attentive therapists, good healthy Ayurvedic food cooked fresh 3 times a day, great clean accommodation, beautiful garden, fantastic yoga classes 2x a day. Conclusion: Athreya is 100% recommendable and we will come again.

A fantastic place to heal, find yourself and be welcomed into a community. Dr. Sreejit has a profound knowledge of Ayurveda, is dedicated, passionate and caring. Together with Dr. Jayalaksmi he manages the clinic and the staff with care and efficiency. The therapists who accompanied me throughout my stay were unbelievable in their professionalism, discretion and care... These qualities were found in all the staff. Each of them tried to make the stay as pleasant as possible.
