The surroundings of Schmalkalden offer a variety of experiences amidst stunning natural beauty. Nestled in the Thuringian Forest, the region provides ideal conditions for hiking, cycling, and winter sports. The famous Rennsteig trail is nearby, impressing with well-marked paths and breathtaking views. Schmalkalden, a town known for its timber-framed buildings and nougat, also boasts a rich cultural scene: historic alleys, the majestic Wilhelmsburg Castle, and cosy cafes invite you to explore and relax.

Dining & Leisure

Indulge in culinary delights at the "Hennenberger Haus" tavern with its adjoining beer garden or the "Gräfin Anastasia" restaurant, where regional and international dishes are served in a relaxed atmosphere. Enjoy the breakfast buffet (7:30-10:30 a.m.), and with half board booking, a pampering board including an afternoon coffee and cake buffet and a tasty 3-course choice menu in the evening. The terrace is open in fine weather. On request, a 4-course candlelight dinner can also be served (at an additional cost). Gluten-free and lactose-free meals available on request.

The hotel also hosts a cooking school where you can join other cooking enthusiasts to stir the pot and dine together (cooking class approx. 95€ (approx. UK £82 / USD $101) per person, on request).

Wellness & Spa

Discover pure relaxation across approximately 1,000 sqm at the Aronia Vital SPA, featuring both indoor and outdoor areas. The spa includes outdoor and indoor pools (each approximately 12 x 5 m, heated year-round), infrared cabins, sensorial showers, and relaxation zones, as well as a sauna area with two Finnish saunas (about 85-95°C), a bio-sauna (about 65°C), and an aroma steam sauna (about 45°C). The relaxation area offers heated loungers and salt inhalation. During summer (April-October, weather permitting), a drinks cart is available by the outdoor pool with refreshing beverages (2:30-5 p.m.).

A skilled wellness team provides a range of massages and beauty treatments using premium natural cosmetics. Additionally, two soft-pack loungers are available for body treatments.

Fitness & Courses

The new, modern fitness room, bathed in natural light, is equipped with high-quality equipment (8:30 a.m. - 9:30 p.m.). Energise yourself in the cardio area with a treadmill, rowing machine, stairmaster, and bicycle, or build strength in the weight area with dumbbells, barbells, several special bars, kettlebells, cable machines, and racks.

Free Time

Directly from the hotel, you can embark on splendid tours along the surrounding hiking and cycling trails. Bicycle storage is available at the hotel. For a fee, a variety of leisure activities are offered both at the hotel and in the nearby area, such as tennis, bowling, volleyball, e-bike rental (Apr.-Oct., approx. €19/day), guided hikes, and cooking classes. In winter, cross-country skiing and sledding are possible. Eisenach with its Wartburg Castle is about 45 km away.
