Indications
Asthma
Asthmatics benefit particularly from healing therapies and often have significantly fewer attacks afterwards.
During the healing therapies, the patients learn important breathing techniques. It is crucial that the breathing techniques are practiced daily. If asthmatics then have an attack, they can use the techniques to counteract it much more consciously.
Chronic bronchitis
Chronic bronchitis often improves during stays in a stimulating climate, and coughing attacks and mucus accumulation are reduced. If this is combined with special respiratory therapy at a health resort, the condition can improve permanently.
Initial study results indicate that active training of the respiratory muscles can achieve significant improvements.
Contraindications & side effects
People with respiratory diseases usually have a severely limited ability to exercise. Therefore, each therapy must be individually adapted to the capacity in order to avoid overloading. This is because, in the worst case, these can make the disease even worse.
In addition, there are various contraindications to exercising the respiratory muscles:
- Heart disease, such as angina pectoris and myocardial ischemia.
- Cardiac arrhythmias
- Heart failure
- Embolism and thrombosis
- COPD with acute exacerbation
